Description

Welcome to the registration form of the 13th National Astronomy Olympiad 2026. Since 2014, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) has been organizing the National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO), targeting the secondary level students of Nepal.

National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO) is an early-stage talent hunt program for the school students in Nepal. It’s an annual program for junior (class 8-10) and senior (class 11-12) students in Nepal providing an opportunity to learn communication, collaboration, critical thinking and critical writing to for their personal growth to support their academic career in STEAM field in future. The program has three stages namely the provincial round (entrance exam), national round and final round respectively which will be held between January -July of each year.

Eligibility Criteria (Please apply to the correct category):

Students who are born after July 1, 2010 and currently studying at class 8-10 or equivalent are eligible for the Junior Category.
Students who are born after July 1, 2006 and currently studying at school or will finish 10+2 or equivalent in 2025 are eligible for the Senior Category.

Registration fee (Please use the QR code available in this form for the payment):

The registration fee for NAO2026 is NRs 1,000/-
There will be 50% waiver for the poor and deserving students. The letter must be uploaded in this form.

Documents required to complete this registration:

School/College ID
Birth Certificate
Payment Proof
Letter from your Local Government/Ward office explaining your academic as well as financial status to participate in the 13th National Astronomy Olympiad 2026 with 50% discount. If you have this letter, you can only pay NRs 500/- as registration fee.

What after NAO2026?

Based on merits and interviews of both students and parents, students will be selected to represent Nepal at the:

19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (19th IOAA) to be hosted by Vietnam in October 2026
5th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics-junior (5th IOAA-jr) to be hosted by Thailand in November 2026
