Developing Astronomical Skills in Nepal

Developing Astronomical Skills in Nepal is our new initiative to motivate undergraduate students for their project works in space science/astronomy/astrophysics and help them during their project/research work. the initiative is approved and partially funded by International Astronomical Union (IAU).

The main objective of this project is to provide a research opportunity in astronomy/astrophysics as a part of their curriculum to undergraduate students in Nepal. The project will be implemented in different stages:

  • February 27, 2018: ‘Workshop in Astronomy and Astrophysics Research’ will be held at Nepal Acedemy of Science and Technology (NAST), Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal. For registration, click hereRegistration deadline is February 23, 2018. Note: Limited partial/full travel grant is available for deserving students. Women are especially encouraged to apply!

May-June 2018: Summer School  for max. 15 students selected from the ‘One Day National Workshop in Astronomy and Astrophysics 2018’. Details on the program will be available prior to the school.

July-December 2018: Thesis/Journal Publications- Student will be supported for the publication of their research work in one of the peerreviewed journal as possible.
